ALA meets the last Tuesday of each month, except for November and December, at 7:00pm at the North Little Rock Community Center. You can Find Us on our About Us page, there is a Google map and physical address for your convenience. Most meetings will have a demonstration by either a member or guest speaker. Our meetings are relaxed, informative, and we'll have refreshments available. Active members are eligible to bring one piece of their artwork to participate in the Artists of the Month Competition. The attending members will vote for the top 5 pieces, the winners will be displayed at area banks and galleries for the following month. The artists who win each month throughout the year, will secure an equal number of places for each win for our Annual Winners' Show, held in December.
Monthly Meetings and Artists of the Month Competition
This is an annual event held from Spring to early Summer and is open to all active ALA members in good standing. Each member is allowed to enter one piece of original art in one of six categories: Abstract, Animal, Figure, Landscape, and Still Life. This is a judged event with cash prizes for: Best of Show, Silver Award, Bronze Award, and First Place in each category. Each of the above awards as well as Second and Third place in each category also receive award ribbons.
Annual Winners' Show
Only the Artists of the Month winners are eligible to participate in this annual event, and will be on exhibit throughout the month of December. So any member who won at least once during the monthly Artist of the Month competitions, can enter as many pieces as they've won places throughout the year. An example, if an artist has won 6 times, 1st-5th place, can put up to 6 of their winning pieces in this show, one win = one spot, etc.
